Back in January at the United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia, I put on the CleanSheet Pro VR headset—and within seconds, I wasn’t standing in a convention hall anymore...
I was back in goal.
Not watching. Not remembering. Feeling it.
The angle of the shot. The urgency of the moment. The split-second decision-making. The body positioning. The reaction.
It took me right back 20 (well...maybe 30!) years.
As a former goalkeeper, that feeling is hard to replicate. But somehow, this CleanSheet Pro VR training did it. (BTW- if you are an old goalkeeper like me, you'll love this too!)
This isn’t just cool technology.
This is a tool that solves real problems for families.
If you’re a parent of a goalkeeper, you already know:
- It’s hard for your child to get enough quality reps
- It’s difficult to recreate game-like scenarios in the backyard
- Most parents don’t feel equipped to train their child properly
- And access to specialized goalkeeper coaching isn’t always consistent, affordable, or available.
CleanSheet Pro changes that.
It gives goalkeepers the opportunity to train in realistic, game-based scenarios—right at home.
They can work on:
- Shot stopping
- Body shape and positioning
- Reaction time
- Footwork and movement within the "control zone"
- Decision-making under pressure
Plus - it's in a safe, structured environment where players can build confidence without the wear and tear of constant physical repetition. This technology is a game-changer for goalkeepers coming back from injury.
And here’s the part parents will appreciate most:
You don’t need to be the coach.
You don’t need to serve perfect balls.
You don’t need to guess what your child should be working on.
The system does it for you: guided, intentional, and rooted in sports science.
At Soccer Parenting, we spend a lot of time helping parents understand how to support their child.
This partnership is about giving you a new way to actually do it.
Because supporting your athlete isn’t just about what you say on the sidelines - it’s about the environment you create, the opportunities you provide, and the tools you choose.
CleanSheet Pro is one of those tools. It meets players where they are. It builds confidence through repetition. And it makes training engaging - which matters more than most people realize.
Because if it’s not engaging… kids won't keep doing it.
And yes - if you’re anything like me and still have that competitor inside you…
You’re going to want to try it too.
There’s something pretty special about stepping back into the goal - even virtually - and feeling that edge again.
If you’re a parent of a goalkeeper - or know one - this is worth exploring.
